What Puttster stores on your iPhone

Player names and colors, scorecards, crews, Cups, saved courses and their pars, favorite and hidden courses, courses you add with a map pin, and your settings. This data lives in Puttster’s storage on your device. It may be included in device backups that Apple manages for you (iCloud or computer backups). Puttster keeps a previous local save so a round can be recovered after a crash.

Nearby courses and Apple Maps

When you look for courses nearby, Puttster asks for your location while the app is in use. Your location and any course or city you search for are sent to Apple Maps to find mini golf courses. Apple handles those requests under the Apple Privacy Policy. Puttster does not store your location history. You can turn location off in iPhone Settings and still keep score.

When you report a course as closed, Puttster hides it on your iPhone and opens it in Apple Maps, where you can report it to Apple. Puttster itself sends nothing.

When you open a course that lists a website, Puttster may check that website (over HTTPS) for a published scorecard. That website receives an ordinary web request, which includes your IP address. Pars found this way, and their source, can be saved with your course on your iPhone.

Scanning a paper scorecard

The camera is used only when you choose to scan. You can also pick a photo using Apple’s photo picker. Text recognition runs on your iPhone. Puttster does not upload or keep scorecard photos. You review every par before it is used.

Community pars

Community pars help the next group skip typing in pars. They use Puttster’s public database in Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit), and they work only for courses that come from Apple Maps or that you have linked to an Apple Maps place.

Reading pars that other players shared needs no account. Puttster sends Apple the course’s Apple Maps place identifier to look them up.

Sharing happens only when you leave “Share with players at this course” on and tap Use Pars. It requires you to be signed in to iCloud.

Pars shared from earlier versions of Puttster (before 1.1.1) also included the course’s name as listed in Apple Maps and an approximate course location (about 100 m). We can delete those on request.

The anonymous iCloud identifier is specific to Puttster. It lets Puttster count how many different people confirmed a par set, so one person cannot confirm pars alone. Puttster cannot see who you are from it. Other players only see par numbers, and only after two different people have shared exactly the same pars for that course.

Turn off Community pars in Puttster’s Settings to stop both reading and sharing. To remove pars you shared, email us (address below) with the course name and the date you shared it, and we will delete the matching records.

Live Activities, widgets and Siri

The Lock Screen Live Activity, Home Screen widgets, Control Center button and Siri shortcuts are drawn on your iPhone from data already in Puttster. Nothing is sent to a Puttster server to show them.

Puttster Pro

Puttster Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Puttster never sees your payment details or Apple Account. Your iPhone only tells Puttster whether Pro is unlocked.

Sharing a scorecard

Scorecard images include player names and scores. Puttster shares one only when you pick a destination in the iOS share sheet.

Children

Puttster is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Community pars contain no personal information beyond the anonymous iCloud identifier described above.

Your choices

  • Export a backup of your Puttster data from Settings → Export my data.
  • Unhide courses you reported closed from Settings → Hidden places.
  • Erase everything Puttster stores on your iPhone from Settings → Reset local data, or by deleting the app.
  • Turn off location, camera or Community pars at any time; scorekeeping keeps working.

Changes to this policy

If Puttster starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version ships, with a new effective date at the top.
